Kennel Bollbölen is a registrated breeder of FCI since 1999 and a member of Luxemburgish kennel association FCL. I am also a member of Finnish Bernese Mountain Dog Club (Suomen Sveitsinpaimenkoirat r.y.)and Club du St Bernard et des Bouviers Suisses in Luxembourg.
The kennel name Bollbölen got its origin from our home village Bollböle situated in Turku archipelago, in south-western Finland.
The majestic beauty and the joyful character of a Bernese mountain dog, a real farm dog, had made a deep impression on me. However, it seemed that many berners had physical problems because of bad hips and elbows. It was sad to see a limping dog who could not really enjoy his life. In1997 Luxembourg became our second home and I started to search for healthier bloodlines.
In May 1997 Milka (Daisy vom Adlerhorst), our first bernese came to us from Germany. When the A-litter was born in1999 I knew this is what I loved to do !
Nowadays we live in the luxemburgish side of the Mosel wine valley. Our family consists of my dear husband, three joyful bernese, one rescue cat and some chickens. They all mix well with each other.
Our Bernese are tested for HD & ED, DM and now more lately also for HS.
However, health is more than just good joints and longevity, it is diverse genetic pool, sound structure and good nervous system. Equally, the beauty is not a single part in a body but a harmonious entity. Not to forget the loving tender character… !
We don’t want to have a big kennel so our dogs can live a normal family life where they get lot of love, attention and different activities.
That’s also why we are looking for families that would have interest working with us in co-ownership. If you would be interested in a co-ownership in breeding, please contact me for more details.
In order to breed healthy good-quality dogs one has to make a selection with parents. That means not every dog that might seem good as a puppy will be qualified as an adult for various reasons (please see our past dogs not used for breeding). I
